President Rodrigo Duterte stated on Saturday he could finish the conflict in Marawi City inside a working day by purchasing the military to go all out. But worry of inflicting much more damage and killing civilians prevented him from doing so.
“I can finish this war in 24 hrs,” he stated. “All I’ve to do is bomb the whole place and degree it towards the floor.”
But because the Philippines is a member of the United Nations and a signatory towards the Geneva Convention, he stated the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) simply couldn’t do that.

Duterte said the conflict experienced dragged for times now because the army experienced been trying to inflict optimum damage to the enemy whilst avoiding collateral harm, especially to civilians.
Previously, on Friday, during his speech before troops in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, Duterte also said his administration had been dealing with the Maute Group in a civilized way.
