The hashtag #StopTheKiIIingsPH topped the trending topics in the Philippines on Monday morning.
As netizens, including celebrities, reacted to the kiIIing of a mother and her son by a police officer.
A viral video showed the suspect, Police Senior Master Sgt. Jonel Nuezca, shooting his neighbors Sonya Gregorio, 52, and her son Frank Anthony Gregorio, 25, multiple times after a verbal scuffle over the victims’ use of “boga” or firecracker in their hometown Paniqui.
Kapuso artist Maine Mendoza quickly reacted to the incident, sharing her disbelief at how far the argument has gotten.
“Sorry Lord pero sobrang kasi yun eh. Sobra yung ginawa niya. Hustisya para sa mag-inang Gregorio. #STOPTHEKILLINGS,” she wrote.
Actress Janella Salvador and Jed Madela described the incident as an inhumane act and pure evil.
Comedienne K Brosas, actress Agot Isidro and actor Alex Diaz also decried the kiIIing.
Television host Bianca Gonzalez and singer-actor Kean Cipriano called for the end of police brutaIity.
Maris Racal also shared her disbelief at how easy it was for the policeman to fire his 6un.
“Grabe ganun na lang kabilis talaga pum4tay no????? #STOPTHEKILLINGS,” she posted.
Television host Robi Domingo called for justice, asking for the Philippine National Police’s commitment to “serve and protect.”
“WE NEED JUSTICE. FILIPINOS DESERVE BETTER. #StopTheKillingsPH,” he wrote.
Alessandra de Rossi agreed with actor and writer Juan Miguel Severo when he noted that the younger Nuezca’s actions were caused by bad parenting.
“Biktima din siya dahil mali ang alam nya. Heartbreaking. Sana may oras pa. Napakabrutal,” she said.
And the recent celebrity who also airs his two cents is young actress Kyline Alcantra.
As she said, “No, hija. Your father is a criminal and you’re a spoiled brat that knows how to speak English, but doesn’t know right manners.”
