“I’d like to say they saved the best for last, but actually I’m just really f–king late,” she joked.
At the end of the night, an auctioneer announced that a photo of Madonna would be auctioned off, which is when she made her surprise appearance. The photo eventually sold for $70,000, via TMZ. (You can watch the whole video of her speech there.)
During her appearance in front of guests including Addison Rae, Diplo and Bebe Rexha, she paid tribute to Jeremy Scott, who was being honored that evening, as well as speaking out about the HIV/AIDS crisis over the years.
“For the past 40 years, I have fought for and lost countless friends to the AIDS epidemic. I’m so relieved to see future generations of artists continue to raise awareness to help find a cure and support those currently living with AIDS,” she said.
Madonna recently gave an interview and said that not much music is inspiring her at the moment, except for this artist.
