Victoria Pedretti, one of the stars of the Netflix series You, was set to star in an exciting new movie, but it unfortunately has been dropped.
The 26-year-old actress was going to star in the film adaptation of Alice Sebold‘s 1999 memoir Lucky.

Variety reports that the movie has lost its financing and will no longer be made. Victoria is “no longer involved” in the project.
The book depicts Alice “being viciously beaten and raped by a stranger during her freshman year at Syracuse University in 1981, and explores how this trauma shaped the rest of her life.”
Anthony Broadwater, the man who was convicted of raping Alice, was exonerated this week, 39 years after the conviction. He spent 16 years behind bars and had a nearly impossible time finding a job after his release due to being a registered sex offender.
Tim Mucciante, who was going to be an executive producer on the film version of Lucky, was crucial in helping uncover the evidence of Anthony‘s innocence. He became skeptical of his guilt after noticing differences between the book and the first draft of the script for the movie.
“I started poking around and trying to figure out what really happened here,” Mucciante told the Associated Press. He then hired a private investigator and a law firm, who helped uncover the truth.
Anthony told the outlet, “I’ve been crying tears of joy and relief the last couple of days. I’m so elated, the cold can’t even keep me cold.”
It was recently revealed that Victoria is dating one of her You co-stars.
