The Beverly Hills Police Department announced in a press conference Thursday (December 2) that they arrested Aariel Maynor, 29, for allegedly shooting and killing her after breaking into the home, via Variety.

Police said he was apprehended after shooting himself in the foot during a burglary in the Hollywood Hills about an hour after Jacqueline was shot at her home.

Cameras caught his vehicle driving east out of Beverly Hills after the shooting, according to police.

Investigators have seized the vehicle and an AR-15 rifle, which they suspect was used in both crimes, police also said. The caliber of the weapon matches the bullets fired at the Avant house, but a full analysis is still pending.

He reportedly has an extensive criminal record and is on parole, following convictions for robbery, grand theft and domestic violence. A previous robbery charge led to a five-year prison sentence in 2013.

Here are the details about the home invasion.

Our thoughts are with Jacqueline Avant‘s loved ones at this incredibly tragic time.
