Bob Saget‘s autopsy has been made public and his head injury was so serious that one doctor suggested it was more like an injury they’d see when someone took a baseball bat to the head.
The 65-year-old Full House star fractured his skull in multiple places across his skull and had bleeding across both sides of his brain.

The New York Times spoke with a series of experts who said the “unmistakably serious set of injuries that would at the very least have probably left someone confused.”
“It’s like an egg cracking,” said Dr. Jeffrey Bazarian, an emergency physician and concussion expert at the University of Rochester Medical Center. “You hit it in one spot, and it can crack from the back to the front.”
But because of the extent of this injury, experts are saying it appears unlikely that he would have ignored it. The Times continued, “The injury would likely have left him confused, if not unconscious.”
“I doubt he was lucid,” Dr. Bazarian said, “and doubt he thought, ‘I’m just going to sleep this off.’”
He specifically had fractures on the back of his skull, the right of his skull, the front of his skull, fractures to particularly thick parts of the skull, and broken bones in a particular part of the eye socket known as the “orbit.”
“If you fracture your orbit,” he said, referring to those eye bones, “you have significant pain.” Experts also noted that “the injuries appeared more reminiscent of ones suffered by people who fall from a considerable height or get thrown from their seat in a car crash.”
The autopsy did not find injuries to other parts of his body though, which would be expected from a significant trauma. His death was rules an accident and the report said there was no signs of foul play.
“This is significant trauma,” Dr. Gavin Britz, the chair in neurosurgery at Houston Methodist, told the Times. “This is something I find with someone with a baseball bat to the head, or who has fallen from 20 or 30 feet.”
No illegal drugs were in his system but the autopsy did find Clonazepam, a benzodiazepine that is used to prevent seizures and anxiety/depression. They also found Trazodone, an antidepressant, in his system.
He also was COVID-19 positive.
Bob was found dead on January 9, 2022 in his hotel room. Our continued thoughts are with Bob‘s wife Kelly, his daughters, friends, family, and loved ones during this difficult time.
