Dwayne Johnson Walks Back His Support from Joe Rogan Amid N-Word Controversy

Dwayne Johnson is walking back his support of Joe Rogan.

Earlier this month, multiple artists announced that they would be pulling their music from Spotify to protest against the COVID-19 misinformation on Joe‘s podcast. He subsequently apologized for his comments and said he was not trying to promote misinformation on his podcast.

Dwayne praised Joe‘s response to the backlash on social media, calling his apology “perfectly articulated” and saying he was looking forward to being on The Joe Rogan Experience. However, he later rescinded his support of the podcast host.

On Saturday (February 5), Spotify pulled 70 episodes of The Joe Rogan Experience due to his repeated use of the N-word.

Author and political activist Don Winslow took to social media to call out Dwayne for voicing support for Joe. “You’re a hero to many people and using your platform to defend Joe Rogan, a guy that used and laughed about using the N-word dozens of times, is a terrible use of your power,” Don wrote. “Have you actually listened to this man’s many racist statements about Black people?”

Dwayne thanked Don for bringing the issue to his attention, writing: “I hear you as well as everyone here 100%. I was not aware of his N-word use prior to my comments, but now I’ve become educated to his complete narrative. Learning moment for me.”

Another star recently came under fire for sharing their thoughts on the controversy.
