Maude Apatow went to extreme lengths to prepare for one of her costumes growing up.

Seth began by playing a clip from the show and asked if Maude could relate to her character’s enthusiasm for theater.
“Of course,” she replied. “[Creator] Sam [Levinson] and I had a lot of discussions about it beforehand and its loosely based on me as a ‘theater child.’”
“I started when I was really young. I remember I always really went for it too, I did like a Gold Rush day and I wanted to look like a miner so I ripped out my tooth,” she continued.
Seth asked if it was a loose tooth or not and Maude answered, “It was not a loose tooth at all. It was not ready to go, I just ripped it out… I think I was nine. But I was dedicated!”
The host then asked how Maude‘s parents Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann reacted to her pulling out a tooth.
“I think my dad was like, ‘What is wrong with her? We’ve raised a monster,’” she said. “And then it just got worse as I got older. I just became a tyrant.”
Maude revealed that she had actually gotten a few texts from people who saw her performance as Lexi and were “triggered” by how much it reminded them of her. Check out the full interview down below!
