Queen Elizabeth Makes First Outing of the Year As She Prepares for Historic Accession Day

Queen Elizabeth attends a reception at Sandringham House on Saturday (February 5) in King’s Lynn, England.

The 95-year-old royal’s outing comes on the eve of her Accession Day, which marks the 70th anniversary of her reign.

She was joined by representatives from local charities as well as members of the Sandringham Estate. To celebrate the occasion, she cut a special cake decorated with the emblem of the Platinum Jubilee and was given gifts.

Queen Elizabeth‘s Platinum Jubilee festivities will take place this June. The events planned include a Derby attendance at Epsom Downs, the BBC’s Platinum Party at the Palace, and Trooping the Colour.
