Ben Stiller is eyeing the lead role in the Ivo van Hove stage adaptation of Stephen King’s horror classic The Shining!
The 1980 horror film had Jack Nicholson in the role of crazed father Jack Torrance. Ben would be playing that role if the deal goes through.
The play will open in London’s West End in January 2023 with an eventual move to Broadway in New York City planned as well. Rehearsals would begin this coming fall.
Sources are telling Deadline that the stage adaptation would adhere more to King‘s 1977 book rather than Stanley Kubrick’s film. If you don’t know, Ivo van Hove is a famed stage director who last worked on the Broadway revival of West Side Story.
