“Distraught by the mass shooting last night outside the venue in Sacramento,” they tweeted. “All of our thoughts are with the families of those who lost their lives and those recovering today. We’re praying for the health care workers caring for them. We hope all our fans made it home safe.”

Aly and AJ said their “bus was caught in the crossfire” but that they “sheltered in place,” adding that everyone in their touring group is safe.

“Thank you for everyone reaching out,” they continued. “A reminder to keep your loved ones extra close today. We have to do something about gun violence in this country.”

E! News writes that according to a release from the Sacramento Police Department, “officers responded to the sounds of shots fired in the area of 10th Street and K Street” at approximately 2:00 a.m. on April 3. The police found a “a large group of individuals as well as multiple gunshot victims” upon their arrival and performed live-saving measures on several victims.

Six people were pronounced dead at the scene and officers found 12 other individuals “with varying degrees of injuries.”

Our thoughts are with those affected by this horrible act of violence.
