“I like being in my friends’ movies,” John told ET at the film’s premiere in Los Angeles. He added, “I don’t really have a brain for acting. I like when my friends call me and say, ‘You wanna do stuff?’”
He joked, “I’m my own agent for film,” and explained his relaxed philosophy about acting. “It happens just when friends go ‘Hey I have an idea for you,’ — I go ‘yeah, I’ll do it,’” he said.
John also discussed what it was like working with B.J. Novak on the movie, given that they’re friends in real life.
“B.J. is very thoughtful on where he wants it to go,” John said of the film’s opening scene, in which he appears. He plays a “parody” of a rockstar and said the scene serves as “a great moment between two guys that are smart but dumb.”
“The way we are talking it’s like we are only ever listening to ourselves talk,” he joked.
As for whether fans would still see the two friends “out and about” when they’re not filming, John replied: “We go out… I’m not sure we go about. We go to one or two places.”
Vengeance hits theaters July 29.
John was recently spotted out to dinner with friends in L.A. and you can see all the photos here.
