Chris Rock is looking back at the the infamous incident between him and Will Smith at the 2022 Oscars.
During the latest stop on his and Dave Chappelle‘s co-headlining European tour on Friday night (September 2), the 57-year-old comedian discussed the severity of joke he made about Will‘s wife Jada Pinkett-Smith, arguing that it didn’t warrant being slapped.

“Did that s–t hurt? Goddamn right,” he said, per ET. “The motherf–cker hit me over a bulls–t joke, the nicest joke I ever told!”
While presenting an award at the annual show in March, Chris quipped, “Jada, I love ya. G.I. Jane 2, can’t wait to see it,” referencing her shaved head. Will walked up and slapped the comedian with an open hand. He then returned to his seat and yelled, “Leave my wife’s name out of your f–king mouth.”
Will addressed the situation directly earlier this summer, sharing a video in which he apologized for his behavior and revealed where he stands with Chris today.
