Alec Baldwin Gets Backlash for Post on One Year Anniversary of Halyna Hutchins 'Rust' Shooting

Alec Baldwin is facing more controversy and backlash.

The 64-year-old 30 Rock actor shared a post on the one year anniversary of the shooting death of Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

Alec was holding the prop gun that was discharged, accidentally killing her on the set of the movie in New Mexico in October of 2021. He has said he did not pull the trigger, which the FBI seemingly disputes.

“One year ago today…” he captioned a picture of the late cinematographer behind a camera on Friday (October 21).

The post immediately drew backlash from commenters for being insensitive and remarkably tone-deaf.

“This feels really inappropriate since you’re the one who shot and killed her…” one commenter wrote, via New York Post.

“Is this not incredibly tone-deaf to anyone else? Especially because he denies doing it?” another asked in the comments.

The post has remained up, but now has comments limited on the post.

Rust will resume filming in January, after its production company agreed to settle the wrongful death lawsuit brought by her estate. Find out what’s happening now.
