Audrey Roloff, formerly on Little People, Big World, (LPBW) welcomed her fourth child last year, and this week, she questioned sleep training. Many TLC fans either raise their babies right now, or raised them in the past, so her stance on it might interest a lot of people. Read on for more details.

What Is Sleep Training?

Smart Sleep Coach explained that infant sleep training is good for the child and for the parents. The objective is to get the baby to fall asleep and stay sleeping through the night. That way, the child develops “rejuvenating sleep” patterns, giving the parents time to rest as well. TLC fans might remember how Maddie Brown Brush struggled with baby Josephine.

Perhaps because Audrey Roloff has time on her hands, she disagrees that it’s necessary. Unlike many Americans, she doesn’t need to catch a bus or train to work, cram in some grocery shopping at lunchtime, or hold down two jobs to make ends meet.

The Argument Against It

Jeremy Roloff’s wife posted about sleep training on Instagram, and it was shared on Reddit. In her post that revealed the LPBW alum holding her baby, Mirabella, she said:

…why are we so obsessed with “sleep training” in America. Maybe it’s just what the algorithm feeds me right now but it’s crazy to me the obsession we have around babies sleeping. It’s often the first or most asked question someone asks you when you’re in the newborn phase “so are they sleeping through the night yet?” Why is this such a thing to be achieved? They are babies. Their needs don’t stop at bedtime.

As babies eventually sleep, Audrey believes that when the child needs a parent, it should get the attention it deserves. According to her, it’s all about parents getting the right “mindset,” and it will lead to “peace” and “joy.”

Other Parents React

In the discussion that followed, TLC fans felt that Audrey forgot that not everyone lives a privileged life. Here are some responses:

  • It’s also easy to say if you don’t have to work full time to feed, house, and clothe said child. So out of touch.
  • Shut up…and try working full time out of the house.
  • Some people work. Some people want to teach their kids how to sleep. Some people don’t want their children to be adults with…insomnia.
  • Tell me you are privileged without telling me you are privileged.
  • Doesn’t she always complain about how tired she is? Maybe this is why??

Admittedly, some people agreed with Audrey, but the majority of them sided with training.
