The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) bided her time and was resilient. She proved tough enough to withstand Cane Ashby’s (Billy Flynn) barbs, and his having discarded her in the recent past, which makes their personal and business pairing all the more intriguing.
Cane is very mercurial. That’s one reasonable way to describe his demeanor since the face change from Daniel Goddard (the original Cane) to the recast in Flynn.
Standing aside of Phyllis at the Genoa City Athletic Club, which Cane presumably still owns, and allowing her to get into it with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) seemed to project restraint. But the head of the collapsed Arabesque triggered a digital attack on Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) during that four-person meeting, which included Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope).

Billy overheard Cane and Phyllis conspiring at the GCAC. They didn’t catch him eavesdropping, which facilitated his ability to call them out during a different scene sequence.
Thompson’s character, who, like Phyllis, was promised a place in Arabesque and a chance to bring down Victor, has no love for Cane. He can’t stand the sight of the man whom he originally believed was Aristotle Dumas.
Viewers questioned how Billy spoke with the man posing as Aristotle over the phone on more than one occasion, but didn’t recognize that it was Cane. Of course, the recast wink was baked into Billy’s misconception because Thompson’s character was hearing a different voice since the last time he was in touch with Cane in 2019.
Phyllis Summers Delivered The Goods
Phyllis hacked into Cane’s computer system. He didn’t ask her to do so, and she’s never directly admitted to that crime.
It still feels like Cane is playing Phyllis because he was determined to make her admit to what she did. However, Lily Winters’ (Christel Khalil) departure from Genoa City, Wisconsin, and the twins telling him that they don’t want any contact with him after prevailing factors.
Cane now sees Phyllis as understanding him. He also appreciates that she gave Victor the tool of what could be his destruction. It’s fair to wonder if Flynn’s character anticipated Phyllis might do what she did, though that hasn’t been expressed in dialogue or in Cane’s private thoughts that fans are sometimes privy to.
Victor Newman Won’t Allow Newman Enterprises To Evaporate
The meeting Victor called with his loved ones was noticeably restrained. He wasn’t initially mad and said that the family, rather than their business, was under attack.
Victor knows that the artificial intelligence program Phyllis stole and then gave to him has morphed into an ungrateful digital brat. The Moustache might have thought that Phyllis set him up.
But viewers see that Phyllis and Cane will take credit for the Newman Enterprises implosion. Cane, in particular, wants Victor to know that he’s paying him back.
Devoted fans of this soap opera can’t believe that Victor will lose the company he built many decades ago. Restoring it now becomes part of the main plot.
