The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) has been in a state of mental disarray for many months. Viewers have only been shown snippets of whatever happened, or Mariah believes happened with Will Hensley (Michael Swan) and Ian Ward (Ray Wise).
Will’s backstory is limited to Mariah having met that significantly older man while on a business trip for Cassidy First. Her flashbacks appeared to reveal him being smothered.
Ian is a different consideration. Fans know that Wise’s character isn’t dead. So, his visit with her at the facility in Massachusetts could have been real or simply a projection of Mariah’s imagination.
Sharon Newman Distracted By Noah Newman’s Plight
Noah Newman (Lucas Adams) was targeted by Matt Clark (Roger Howarth). The trap was set, and Noah fell into it so that the man he knew as Mitch Bacall could again punish the Newman family.
Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) has been distraught. Her son’s abduction and later assault revived bad memories of her highly unusual multiple kidnappings in recent times.
All of the above means that Mariah’s latest troubles, while concerning, are partially out of sight and out of mind. Of course, the audience knows that the entire construct is a plot device that’s allowed Grimes to spend time away from the cast so she could marry late last year and then honeymoon.

Cassie Newman Remains Timeless In Genoa City, Wisconsin
Grimes is a phenomenal actor. Proof, more than opinion, came when she earned her second Daytime Emmy Award in 2018 for her portrayal of Mariah. That followed her win in 2000 for playing Cassie Newman.
Devoted fans surely agree that Grimes’ portrayal of Cassie will forever rank with the greatest in this show’s history. Her character is so indelible that she’s still mentioned and spurned Grimes’ comeback in the form of her unknown twin sister, Mariah.
The now 36-year-old actor has accomplished something only certain performers have. Grimes’ portrayal of Mariah offers no evidence of Cassie, reaffirming that her talent is undeniable and immeasurable.
Mariah Copeland Returns With A Vengeance
Mariah volunteered to be the surrogate for Devon Winters’ (Bryton James) and Abby Newman Winters’ (Melissa Ordway) child. Mariah was abducted at the end of the pregnancy, a period when she called the unborn baby Bowie.
Abby and Devon haven’t been shown together as much recently. Dominic Winters (most recently played by Rainn and River Ware) has been mentioned but not seen. So, Mariah’s abduction of him revisits his origin story.
Detective Burrow (Matt Cohen) might be GC’s newest lead police detective after leaving Los Angeles, California. The town has been without one since Chance Chancellor’s (Conner Floyd) murder last summer.
Cohen’s character will be involved in this missing child case, which facilitates Mariah’s return.
