Days Of Our Lives Martha Madison Shares Interesting Story Of How She Stumbled Into Soaps

Days of Our Lives spoilers note that Martha Madison entered the role of Belle Black in 2004 and has become a pivotal part of the show and storylines. The actress recently hopped on social media and told a very interesting story about how she entered the land of soaps.

Martha Madison’s Instagram Story

Madison recently uploaded a tale on her Instagram Story of how she stumbled into daytime drama, and it involved a ‘drunk guy’ in New York … doesn’t it always, though?

In all seriousness, Madison relayed how she was just out of college and sat next to a man who was inebriated in an NYC bar. He asked what she did for a living, and she replied that she wanted to be an actress, to which his response was, “You’ll never make it.”

Madison was caught off guard by the comment, but asked him why he thought that, and he told her, it’s “… Because you don’t knoooow what you want to do! What kind of actress? TV? Movies? Theatre? Drama? Comedy? You have to get specific, or you’ll never make it.”

Light Bulb Moment

The actress went on to say on the IG Story, “Turns out, he was some hotshot agent, and although slurring and stumbling, he was 100% right. So, I decided I wanted to be an actress on a soap opera.”

Thank goodness for drunken men in New York, right? Madison would then gain focus for her craft, and after appearing in some episodes of Passions in 2004, she landed on the role of Belle on Days of Our Lives, the offspring of John Black (Drake Hogestyn) and Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall).

Madison was also on General Hospital, playing the temporary recast of nurse Elizabeth “Liz” Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) in 2011, and on the soap web series The Bay from 2010 to 2014, playing Marly Nelson-Foster.
