The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) never anticipated Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) would play hardball to this extent. But stealing Newman Enterprises was never going to be a one-day event.
Cane knew he would face reprisal but thought Victor was boxed in by his greed. As viewers recall, the man who’s headed one of the world’s largest conglomerates for over fifty years in soap-time had multiple opportunities to destroy the artificial intelligence weapon and took none of them.
Victor didn’t calculate that Cane implanted a poison pill inside the AI program. But he did, and then recently employed it, which caused the appearance of a sale of the company from Victor to Cane.
Going For The Kill In Genoa City, Wisconsin
As baseball’s Spring Training gets set to open in the real world, Victor threw a fastball near Cane’s face. The Moustache assumed that tactic would cause Cane to comply with his pressured demand, and it did.
However, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) was quick to warn Cane. She implored him to recognize that Victor would never threaten the late Neil Winters’ (Kristoff St. John) daughter or grandchildren.
But the intensity of Victor’s threat caught Cane by surprise. He was initially quick to capitulate. But all is not yet lost for the man whose former persona was Aristotle Dumas.
Lily Winters Wants To Teach Her Ex A Hard Lesson
Having Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) be off-screen during this period is purposeful. Viewers know that Khalil recently gave birth to a second child with her husband, Sam Restagno. The longtime Y&R actor now has three children.
Taking time away from the set for her new child’s birth meant departing the cast for a bit. However, recent reports indicate that Khalil is back on set, which means that Lily’s return should happen in the near future.
Cane didn’t want Lily to leave town. He reverted to a form of Aristotle after she did, believing that the family he wanted to reunite was gone forever. Having the twins cut him off also helped to shift Cane’s focus from making amends to following through on the plans his late father, Colin Atkinson (Tristan Rogers), had for him.
Lily must believe that going along with Victor’s plan is the best way to stop Cane’s reckless behavior from hurting others. Agreeing to pretend to have herself and the twins held hostage by Victor so that Cane would sign Newman Enterprises over is a heavy gamble.
Phyllis Summers And Billy Abbott Want Justice
On his own, Cane likely wasn’t going to unearth the truth about what Victor really did. But it feels like Phyllis and Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) thirst for perceived justice against Victor will change this game soon.
If successful, Cane won’t give Newman Enterprises back to Victor. Plus, fans recall that Holden Novak (Nathan Owens) was sent to Los Angeles, California, to search for Cane’s family. That’s another factor that implies this heated battle is far from over.
