Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that JJ Deveraux (Casey Moss) will continue to deal with some guilt over how things went down in his latest shootout. JJ had a clear shot at Klaus Muller (Bassel Alzaro), but he didn’t take it and put Shawn Brady’s (Brandon Beemer) life on the line as a result.
Shawn had to step up after JJ froze, so he got shot in the leg and had to take Klaus down himself. Although Shawn scolded JJ in the aftermath, he still wound up trying to cover for JJ by giving Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu) an incomplete statement.
JJ ultimately decided to tell Jada the truth himself and acknowledged that he’d made two major mistakes on the force. Since JJ refuses to let himself make a third, he handed over his badge along with his weapon in Days’ March 26 episode.
Jada didn’t fight JJ on this and seems to understand that he’s a pretty broken cop right now. In fact, Jada was angry with Shawn for his cover-up since JJ could’ve put others at risk in his current state.
JJ can’t forgive himself for this screw-up or the one he made when he shot Theo Carver (Tyler Joseph Andrews) all those years ago. Even Theo thinks JJ’s being too hard on himself, but JJ feels like he never should’ve been reinstated as a cop.
Is Detective Deveraux really done for good at this point? It’s possible this is just a temporary crisis that JJ needs to tackle and that he’ll eventually accept his badge back.
However, it’s also possible that Days writers are using this to push JJ down a different career path. JJ was an EMT once upon a time, so maybe he could put his medical skills to good use again.
On the other hand, perhaps DOOL could let JJ try something new. Joining Black Patch might be an option since JJ could apply some of his detective training in some lower-stakes situations.
JJ might become a private investigator and help Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) crack some cases. It looks like Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) might be headed down this career road, so maybe JJ could join him as well as Steve to make a PI trio.
It’s even possible JJ will try a completely different career instead, so Days viewers will be eager to see what the future holds for him.
