The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) is falling further into the throes of drug addiction.
He’s hooked on the illegal substances that appear to be fed to him through Matt Clark’s (Roger Howarth) henchmen and Riza Thompson (Tina Casciani).
Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) believes he has everything under control. But he also realizes that his brother is behaving erratically and that unnerves him.
Meanwhile, Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) and Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) are worried in Genoa City, Wisconsin. They are many states away from the dirty and dangerous dealings that are taking place in Sin City.
Why Go To Las Vegas, Nevada, Without Heavy Backup?
Nick wanted to freelance, and Adam wouldn’t let it happen. The idea that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) allowed his sons to pursue Matt in Las Vegas, Nevada, is highly questionable.
The Moustache may have his security team trailing Nick and Adam. They could be onto Matt as well. But if that isn’t true, then the Newman boys are on their own and heading to potential doom.
It was plausible to accept that Nick would pursue an endgame with Matt no matter where that happened. Adam’s backing is also acceptable since he’s come back into the family fold within the last year-plus. But seeing them work as an apparent remote tandem so far from home is perplexing.
Nick Newman Can’t Kick The Habit
Nick was in a car accident that he and Matt shared responsibility for causing. Morrow’s character was behaving recklessly long before he started using the illegal chemicals that he’s been ingesting.
But breaking his femur and then checking himself out of GC Memorial Hospital a day after being admitted was foolish. That choice led to unmanageable pain that has only been dealt with through unlawful substances.
Viewers don’t have enough information to know if Matt is knowingly supplying Nick with drugs through his distributor. They also don’t know if he suspects that Spider is Adam and is using Riza.
Matt Clark’s Future Isn’t Bright
Did Y&R hire an industry heavyweight like Howarth as the capper for Matt’s run on the show?
That happened earlier this decade when Robert Newman (Ashland Locke) became the buzzed recast. Ashland eventually perished. Might Howarth’s alter ego be heading to the same fated land?
Meanwhile, Adam is being distracted as a way to take him off the table. Yes, that’s a wink at the high-stakes poker game he believes he’s working as a way to flush Matt out.
Nick has been drugged as a way to neutralize him. Matt wants to eliminate his enemy and probably wants to make it look like Nick overdosed.
The two questions above seem more likely than not to lead to an ending for Matt rather than another jail sentence. If the assumption holds, Nick and Adam will survive but could be badly hurt because they are both in significant soapy danger.
