The Young And The Restless Spoilers: Nick’s Matt Redemption Plan Crashes And Burns

The Young and The Restless: Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow)

The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) will become Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) property again.

Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) is the unexpected facilitator who scurried Matt away from Phyllis Summers’ (Michelle Stafford) grip and began to repay the Moustache for the opportunity she believes he’s given her with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman).

Phyllis is wrecked because she’s lost all her leverage, which was immense. Imagine outwitting the great and powerful Victor Newman, holding the one man in the world that he wants captured, and then losing him.

Well, she’s living that nightmare in daytime and her plight is about to worsen.

Meanwhile, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) can be grateful that his body let him down.

The drugs Matt’s network of creeps supplied him with took their toll, with Morrow’s character collapsing in front of his family.

Victor Newman Has An Intriguing Choice

What if Victor doesn’t have his good squad, euphemistically referred to as his security team, to make Matt disappear?

Imagine a scenario where Victor recognizes that Matt is telling the truth about having lost his memory.

Viewers know this plot technique, which is an age-old soap opera staple, has lengthened Howarth’s run on the show.

Theoretically, Matt’s amnesia can continue indefinitely or, as savvy fans assume, until the tail end of whatever Howarth’s contract length is.

It feels like Victor could hold Matt during this period where he’s unable to recall his crimes, because getting a legal conviction would seem less likely until his memory returns.

Sienna Bacall Is Motivated To Seek Justice

Sienna Bacall (Tamara Braun) has a fake last name. She didn’t know Matt was conning her when they met in Los Angeles, California. But he charmed her into marriage and helped him create a front that was known as The Shadow Room.

The Young and The Restless: Matt Clark (Roger Howarth)

It was bad when Sienna learned that Mitch Bacall was actually Matt. But what was worse was finding him in the desert. That Las Vegas, Nevada, encounter nearly ended Sienna’s life.

But she fought him off, knocked Matt’s head with a rock, and then conked him a few more times for good measure, and thought he was dead. Well, he wasn’t, and his continued existence is a threat to her, the man she actually loves, Noah Newman (Lucas Adams).

So, Sienna is as or more motivated than anyone in GC to resolve the Matt problem once and for all.

Matt Clark’s Mind Permanently Altered?

Only in this alternate version of reality could Matt, as originally incarnated by the great Eddie Cibrian or Carter Mills, as he was calling himself during Rick Hearst’s stellar run a quarter-century ago, or Mitch as the phenomenal Howarth is portraying him, avoid legal repercussions for as many years as he has.

Sure, it seems preposterous to imagine Matt not being imprisoned or, more likely, meeting a grisly fate at the hands of a long list of potential suspects. Possibly, a murder mystery is coming next?

But a more intriguing option would be to let this new Matt continue to exist, with the understanding that eventually his memory returns and then justice is delivered in some soapy form.
