The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Diane Jenkins Abbott (Susan Walters) escaped a kidnapping only to find herself in an attempted murder frame.
Viewers know that Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) can instantly reverse that false accusation, but he’ll need to live.
Patty Williams’ (Stacy Haiduk) stabbing was preventable. But Jack allowed himself to be vulnerable, and as viewers saw, very naive.
How could Jack be lulled into believing that this particular ex-wife didn’t have to be watched every second?
As Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) warned, Jack was putting himself in unnecessary danger by going along with Patty’s demand that they move out.
Being alone with her was something believed to be manageable, but obviously was not.
Brilliant Escape Plan Executed By Mother And Son
Diane created the means to drug Dr. Laurence Markham (Jere Burns) before her son arrived at the remote location where she was being held.
She included crushed sleeping pills in food that was intended for Laurence to eat.
Kyle used food as a lure to feed Laurence’s guard dogs on what can best be classified as a secure compound rather than a home.
Patty and Laurence used that location for Diane’s abduction in a not fully explained collaboration.
Having gained access to the kidnapping site, Kyle thankfully wasn’t attacked by the dogs or caught.
With Laurence rendered unconscious, Diane was freed, but as they learned, her reprieve proved short-lived.

Jack Abbott Stabbed In The Dining Room
The Abbott mansion was never intended to be the place where Jack was stabbed to death. But concluding that her years-long plan failed, Patty took a knife and stuck it deep into her supposed love’s side.
Viewers suspected that most human beings, if not all, would have bled out on the dining room floor and have been found dead by a returning Diane and Kyle.
But daytime writers have always asked fans to stretch their imaginations.
So, Jack is headed to Genoa City Memorial Hospital. Rather than being pronounced dead on site in the Abbott family home, he has a puncher’s chance of survival.
Soap opera fans know that Jack will remarkably survive unless Bergman is going to shock with a public retirement announcement or an exit from the cast.
Admiration For Stacy Haiduk’s Performance
Talk of nine lives applies firmly to Patty. She has the prominent Kitty tattoo on her calf.
Observant viewers noticed the black cat pendant that Haiduk’s character was wearing recently. That ominous sign proved out with Patty’s subsequent intent to kill.
Kudos to Haiduk for once again playing her villainous character to the absolute hilt.
She is a terrific actor who stands at center stage, drawing in appreciative viewers. The suspension of belief, in this iteration of Patty, is allowing great soap to brilliantly shimmer in the light of daytime.
