Chris McKenna Finally Speaks Out About Leaving Port Charles Behind
According to Soap Opera Digest, Chris did admit that being let go from the ABC soap did feel more than just a little disappointing as there was so much potential in his character and where his storyline was headed.
Chris also said that it took a few months to get over the fact that he’s no longer on General Hospital and that thankfully, he’s in a better place now. He said, “I’m really grateful. It’s disappointing how it’s ending right now, but this was a gift.”
He also added, “Jack had an extremely unfortunate run of bad luck circumstances that influenced a lot of story since I took over.”
Not only that, but Chris also said that he absolutely loved working alongside actress Cynthia Watros, who plays Nina Reeves on the soap and that their time together was “crackling.”
He said, “I will continue to operate under the belief that ‘Bernina’ is the greatest love story GH never told.”
Of course, the internet certainly did have a lot to say about the matter. Some even commented with, “That was a terrible decision. He had potential for so much more, and there are few male characters in their 40s on the show left.
Plus the two guys they replaced him with are not as interesting to watch.”
What’s Next For Chris McKenna?
Another critic of the soap wrote, “Since the campaign to keep him started after he was already done filming I feel we need to start another to bring him back. It can be as Brennan or a different character.
Of all of the characters they could have ditched they chose the one who has been carrying this show.”
And then there was this comment as well: “Chris McKenna was awesome with everyone they put him with.
Replacing Charles Measure was no easy task but this guy pulled it off effortlessly. Michael and Brennan were hands down the best recast ever!”
