The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) didn’t seek to meet Marie Kirkland (Jade Harlow). She met him and then lured him with the exact vice he was trying to avoid: drugs.
Sure, Marie’s a poor soul. That’s not the soapy point. Instead, it’s personal responsibility and how some personality types consistently demonstrate that lack of self-control.
Now, after involving Nick in what seems like a messy divorce, he’s become part of an apparent self-defense death. Yes, Marie says that she accidentally killed her husband, Logan Kirkland (Tommy Walker).
Matt Clark Is Responsible For Creating The Initial Problem
Nick is right to remain enraged at Matt Clark (Roger Howarth), who only turned into a seemingly responsible human being recently.
Viewers recall that his wife, who he lied to and tried to kill, Sienna Bacall (Tamara Braun), had to defend her life in the Arizona desert.
Sienna picked up a rock and repeatedly hit Matt, who she knew by his fake name, Mitch Bacall. Those blows left him unconscious and altered his personality.
He’s become a completely different person since Sienna’s defensive action preserved her life and radically altered Matt’s.
But before that happened, Howarth’s character ensured that highly addictive drugs were in Nick’s path.
But Isn’t Nick Newman Responsible For His Actions?
One word answers this section header’s question, and it’s yes. However, those who live in Genoa City, Wisconsin, and all who watch its residents know that addictive substances attack human beings on the inside.
So, Nick, his mother, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), and the woman who appears to be his new love interest, Marie, should be given grace. They do have free will and can use it.
Being in rehabiliation means that someone is trying to break their addiction and deserves full compassion and whatever type of support family and friends can offer. Nick’s had plenty of visitors, while Marie only had Logan.
Just Call Michael Baldwin The Fixer
That’s what Michael Baldwin (Christian Le Blanc) has become in recent years. Yes, he’s often been someone who Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) tapped to resolve complex scenarios.
But these days, Michael doesn’t argue before a judge in court and instead helps with sticky personal issues.
Nick’s call to Michael after Logan died during his visit to Marie at the facility she and Nick are staying in was necessary. Michael assured Nick that all would work out because Marie was defending her life.
But viewers didn’t witness what happened. Like Nick, they heard the verbal discussion and the physical confrontation, and Logan lying on the floor. Nick checked him, and he was dead.
Here’s hoping, for Marie’s sake and Nick’s that’s the whole story and that Michael’s help is the end of this part of the storyline. But even if that’s true, Nick is only getting to know Marie and has no idea what other danger might be ahead next.
