A Davao City courtroom issued three arrest warrants on Tuesday towards self-confessed hitman and former police officer Arturo Lascañas in connection with the 2003 killing of broadcaster Jun Pala.
The Davao City Regional Demo Courtroom Branch 10 issued one warrant for murder and two warrants for attempted murder, each with a P120,000 bail.
Inside a February 2017 push convention, Lascañas admitted to killing Pala as part of the so-called Davao Death Squad (DDS), a vigilante group that dedicated extrajudicial killings allegedly upon orders of then-Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.
“Kami ang nagplano na i-assasinate si Jun Poras Pala,” he said. “Gumawa kami ng pag-ambush kay Jun Pala… Napatay si Jun Pala. Two times following, binigyan kami ni Mayor Rody Duterte, through SP04 Sonny Buenaventura, ng P3 million.”
Lascañas additional that Duterte gave him P1 million for the killing, which the previous policeman acknowledged.
