Aaron Judge hit a Major League-leading 60th home run on Tuesday (September 20), tying Babe Ruth‘s record for a single season.
The 30-year-old outfielder is just the sixth player to reach 60 home runs in a season, joining Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, Roger Maris and Babe Ruth.

“When you talk about Ruth and Maris and Mantle and all these Yankees greats, you never imagine as a kid getting mentioned with them,” Aaron said. “It’s an incredible honor and something I don’t take lightly at all. We’re not done.”
Aaron is also in position to become only the 11th player in AL/NL history to lead his league in batting average, home runs and RBIs.
“I haven’t really been thinking about numbers or stats and stuff like that,” Aaron said. “I’m going out there trying to help my team win. At the time, it was a solo shot in the ninth, still down by a couple of runs. But this team, we’ve always had a never-say-die attitude. We fight until the end.”
Aaron is in his last season under contract.
