The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Matt Clark’s (Roger Howarth) refusal to admit his identity has enraged Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow). But audience members must be tiring of this ruse.
Unless there’s a twist and Detective Burrow (Matt Cohen) turns out to be Matt, post-plastic surgery, then Howarth’s character is him. While it’s understood Matt is playing a psychological game and he’s attempting to avoid legal consequences, this part of the plot is becoming stretched.
Kidnapping Noah Newman (Lucas Adams) and Sienna Bacall (Tamara Braun, Days of our Lives, Ava Vitali DiMera, and General Hospital, Dr. Kim Nero, All My Children, Reese Williams) is punishable. It initially seemed like Burrow was on Matt’s payroll, but his recent, seeming reveal to Nick was a surprise.
Is Detective Burrow A Good Guy?
Sharon is suspicious of Burrow. Nick believes that he’s on the up and up, which was apparently reinforced through the introduction of fellow detective Annie Stewart (Catherine Kresge).
Yet, viewers can wonder if Burrow might be under Matt’s thumb. He could be an undercover detective who is working both sides of the rub.
It wouldn’t be the first time in Y&R’s history that an official went rogue, and it would fit with Matt’s backstory of being involved with unseemly dealings. Here’s hoping that Sharon’s instinct proves false because if she’s right then all involved are in deep trouble.
Roger Howarth Fits Right In
Howarth’s addition to the cast is great. Devoted soap fans are aware of his long runs on the late beloved steamers, As the World Turns (Paul Ryan) and One Life to Live (Todd Manning). Of course, he was recently part of General Hospital’s (Doctor Austin Gatlin-Holt) cast.
But this solid actor’s daytime debut happened in the early 1990s when he appeared in a few episodes of the late, also beloved soap opera, Guiding Light (Jory, no last name known for this character) and in nineteen episodes of the well-liked soap, Loving (Kent Winslow).
His new role as the recast Matt has started terrifically. He projects the awfulness that fans came to identify with this character when he first attacked and later tormented Sharon and Nick during two different periods in this show’s history.
Nick Newman And Sharon Newman Fight Together
Viewers are anticipating that the plot with push forward and deliver the full Matt reveal. It would be great if Howarth could remain on the show, though that will take some creative writing, as Matt is an illegal drug facilitator and kidnapper.
Co-joined with this Los Angeles, California, tale is the ongoing pairing of Nick and Sharon. Considering the remarriage of another 1990s super couple, Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian) and Christine Romalotti (Lauralee Bell), maybe Shick fans are in the midst of watching their favorite duo reconciling. That would be a satisfying result of what has been a dark storyline to date.
