The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) has been living on the edge for many weeks. His collapse at Newman Enterprises reinforces how far he’s descending into the throes of addiction.
Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) was among those present when Nick collapsed. Thankfully, that happened while his father and others were present, and it should lead to him finally getting into a detox and rehabilitation program.
Viewers know that the drug Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) fed him is the cause of his health crisis. But they also know that Nick created the circumstances that led to this trauma.
Nick Newman’s Pursuits Are Misguided
Nick took the law into his hands when he kidnapped Matt and put him in the trunk of his luxury vehicle. Morrow’s character intended to drive him to a remote area and end his life.
This is not in defense of Matt’s actions, but it was understandable that his fight or flight instinct kicked in and he responded. Matt wiggled out of the restraint Nick had him in and grabbed his neck, which caused the sports utility vehicle to swerve off the road and crash.
The hospital check-out, after less than a day, was ridiculous. But that wasn’t because Nick did it. Instead, his family’s reaction, in not forcing him to get needed treatment, led to his use of the drugs Matt provided through one of his minions.
Matt Clark Twice Concussed And On The Loose
Matt is not a normal human being. Incredibly, he’s received two separate concussions and was able to get up and leave on his own power.
Most human beings, if not all, would not survive what Sienna Bacall (Tamara Braun) did to him in the Las Vegas, Nevada, desert. Yet he did. But being hit hard on the head by Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), so soon after that, and again being rendered unconscious, was stunning. Seeing him being taken out of the Genoa City Athletic Club suite by Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) was soapy, but watching him casually converse on a Chancellor Park bench with her was rather preposterous.
Like Nick, Matt would have needed medical attention in Vegas and GC. He didn’t receive it, with the only plausible option being that those two blows will be used as part of a write-out storyline.
Victor Newman And Nikki Newman Love Each Other
Victor has cooled a bit. Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) also proposed that they end hostilities for the best interests of their son. Her headaches could be part of a larger issue that could also push Victor to call a truce.
Alternatively, Victor, seeing Nick collapse in front of him, will jar the Moustache. He’ll realize that Nikki wasn’t exaggerating their need to unite for Nick’s best interests.
Plus, Nikki’s complaints of head pain will further alert Victor to his wife’s stress levels. Here’s hoping that this many-times-married couple soon reunites because their family remains in danger of Matt’s coming strikes when he regains his memory, or possibly before that.
