The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) saw his ex-wife at the Genoa City Athletic Club, which Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) still somehow owns.
There stood Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters), as he called her, with Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) soon to arrive.
That former bride wasn’t Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), who he loudly forced to leave the re-imagined Ranch house he built for her.
Diane Jenkins Abbott, as she’s still known, was defending the man she still loves and who is her husband, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman).
Viewers saw in that sequence that Diane clearly still cares for Jack and wants to restore their marriage. But another problem existed in proximity to the GCAC at Crimson Lights.
Kyle Abbott Couldn’t Believe His Eyes
Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) walked in on his father and Patty, but wishes that had never happened. Victor set that up, just as Diane suspected.
Walking in on Jack and Patty at Crimson Lights was a different experience. Diane and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) weren’t there, and Kyle’s father wasn’t in a totally compromising position.
But as Jack soon told Kyle, after Patty left, he wanted to use the assumed connection to Victor to their advantage. Kyle warned his father against playing with fire. But daytime is often about being burned and then trying to strike back with a flamethrower.
Patty Williams Plans To Make Rival Pay
Patty believes that Diane is undeserving of Jack. That’s her justification for upsetting Jack’s marriage.
However, Jack believes that he can lean into Patty’s fixation on him and use it against Victor. That will be a fine needle to thread because he’ll need to overcome the small fortune Victor paid her to manipulate Jack on the yacht.
Plus, Braeden’s character said that she’s exceeded his expectations and heard her say that she plans to keep going.
All of the above means that Patty isn’t leaving GC anytime soon. So, Jack has time and will need to turn her against Victor or at least cause her to stymie his plans.
Victor Newman Has A Lot On His Silver Plate
Born with a silver spoon in his mouth? No, Victor lived in an orphanage as a child and had to make something of himself.
His hardscrabble existence led to the rebranding as a victorious, Victor, new man, Newman. That’s why telling Diane that he doesn’t care about collateral damage isn’t shocking. He sees the ends and creates the means to get there, and as he said, win.
Allowing Diane to witness the phony conversation with Patty was a rub of mud in the face. Diane recognized their arrogant play-acting, and it made her more determined to reverse all that had happened. On that plot point, she and Jack share common ground and might find a way to work together.
