The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) was given an unexpected gift. But Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) will ask himself if his faux brother is grateful.
Jill Abbott (Lauren Koslow) came to town in hopes of settling her differences with Billy and helping the man she sees as another son, Cane, to bond. She succeeded on the second front.
Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) was surprised when Cane said that he wanted to hire Billy to work for him at Chancellor.
He appreciates Jill’s goals and also wanted to do his part in making a meaningful gesture that the late Grande Dame of Genoa City, Wisconsin, Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper), would love.
Jill Abbott Is Hiding A Secret
It appears that Billy will conclude that the secret he recently referenced involves something his mother knew about Chancellor.
As the re-imagined story goes, the company faced serious financial trouble before Katherine assumed the helm, and it received cash inflow from an unexpected source.
Devoted fans know that Katherine hired Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) to help her run Chancellor. That was at the start of his career, with the Moustache later leaving to found Newman Enterprises.
So, it’s possible that Victor was involved in securing the backing Chancellor needed. If it wasn’t him, then someone who had money and whom Katherine may have trusted will probably be revealed as the source.
It’s fair to wonder if that character will be one from Y&R’s history that longtime viewers would know or someone else?
Cane Ashby Means Well As He Seeks Redemption
Lily has fallen back in love with Cane. It’s not that she ever stopped caring for him, but his departure from GC, during the period when Daniel Goddard (the original Cane) was part of the cast, damaged her trust.
The many events that took place during an extended arc last summer didn’t do anything to impress Lily. Instead, Cane alienated her further.

All that’s happened since a year ago last summer, which reads like a lyric from a fondly recalled song, led to Lily embracing Cane, the twins doing the same, and all being righted in his world. Colin Atkinson’s (Tristan Rogers) death played heavily into his redemption’s advancement.
So, he hasn’t thrown a bone to Billy and isn’t trying to play a game. Cane genuinely believes that his talent will help Chancellor be revived to greatness.
Billy Abbott’s Lack Of Self-Control Persists
Getting into it with Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) was a bad sign. There was no reason for Billy to tell Victor about the money that Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) received from Adam in exchange for her signing Newman Media over to Newman Enterprises.
The above means that Victor will set his sights on punishing Spectra Charles when that probably wasn’t going to happen, or at least wasn’t on his priority list right now.
Billy’s impulsive need to hit Victor, after Braeden’s character intentionally mentioned Jill’s fondness for Cane, was a major business mistake.
That’s what Billy doesn’t get. His behavior in this small town, where everyone knows everyone’s personal business sooner or later, creates a ripple effect.
The soapy tide is rising, and the undercurrent might pull more than Billy under by autumn.
