The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) pulled out the old school cardboard boxes that were filled with paper files.
He’s convinced that the answer to whatever his mother is withholding from him about Chancellor can be found, but Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) is adamant that he should drop his amateur detective efforts.
Viewers familiar with the world before computers took hold recall many in Genoa City, Wisconsin, believing that their future would be all on the screen, and then that happened. However, paper, and the physical proof it provides, still exists, which is allowing for Y&R’s writing staff to recreate what supposedly happened so long ago.
References to beloved characters have long been a staple in daytime. And so it’s natural that the arguably greatest character of them all, yes, even higher than Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), is at the heart of this emerging storyline.
Who Saved Katherine Chancellor’s Company?
Why would Jill Abbott (last played by Lauren Koslow) hide information from Billy if that’s what she’s been doing? Well, whatever it was must be a significant plot point that’s being presented because a temporary recast was brought in.
Devoted fans know that Jess Walton (Jill) has been part of the cast for decades. In more recent years, she’s been recurring, including times when Jill has appeared via video chat.
So, to reach out to Koslow and also make public that Walton is welcome back whenever she can return obviously implies that whatever is about to be revealed is important. Billy is on it and won’t let go of this bone. He believes that proof of whoever saved Katherine Chancellor’s (Jeanne Cooper) company will allow the revived version of it to prosper.
Cane Ashby Finally Got His Life Back
Cane might be participating in another version of self-sabotage. Victor sees him and Billy as two sides of the same coin. They’re screw-ups who can’t help but get in their own way.
That assessment isn’t wrong, which allows viewers to ask why a voice of reason and the lady who Victor turned Chancellor over to, Lily Winters (Christel Khalil), allowed Cane to hire Billy. It was an unusual decision considering both men’s pattern of clashing with each other.
Viewers suspected that when that happened, it was necessary to push the plot. Now, down the soapy road, Billy is Cane’s first hire, and he’s already disobeying an order to stop.
Billy Abbott Finds More Than Expected
What if this isn’t what Victor predicted? Imagine if what Billy is onto helps today’s Chancellor by giving it informational leverage it wouldn’t have without his Sherlock Holmes’ search.
Whatever Billy is onto must be important. The documents he’s seemingly sure to locate will provide information regarding whoever gave Katherine enough financial backing to save Chancellor during the period that was at or coincided with her hiring Victor in 1980, when Braeden joined the cast.
Cane has fought all the way back from France to regain Lily’s trust, as reinforced by her wanting him to lead Chancellor. In turn, and to try and reach family accord like Jill wants, Cane wants to give Billy a second chance. Here’s hoping that Thompson’s long-suffering character’s search for the truth yields a victory for everyone who’s involved.
