Nearly six years ago, Jason Landry was on his way from Texas State University to Missouri City, Texas, and he disappeared. Well, his remains were found and now his family might find some closure. Read on for more details.
Jason Was Identified
ABC Eyewitness News reported that “on Wednesday, Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office announced that DNA analysis identified the recent remains found in Caldwell County, Texas.”
The remains had been discovered by a person who lived locally back on Sept 8. “The University of North Texas Center for Human Identification (UNTCHI)” carried out the tests and identified Jason.
Jason Landry was 21 years old when he disappeared, and he was on his way home to spend the Christmas season with his family. Click2Houston reported that “skeletal remains were discovered near Luling, Texas, in the same rural area where… [his] wrecked car was found after he disappeared on Dec. 13, 2020.”
Over the years, searches took place, but he wasn’t found. Early searches that failed indicated there seemed to be signs he had gotten out of the wrecked car, but the trail disappeared.
One can only imagine that his family were beside themselves with worry. Eventually, that worry might have become an annual reminder of pain as each festive season approached.
A Family Member Speaks Out
When ABC7LA shared the news on Instagram, someone claiming to be related to the family of Jason Landry arrived in the comments section. @evangeline_5811 commented, saying, “Finally my family needed this closure answered.”
When another reader asked, “What happened if you don’t mind me asking. No disrespect. My condolences to you and your family,” Green answered.
She explained, “He was going home from college, and crashed in 2020 and I don’t remember much I was only 12. But they finally found him not too far so there’s still so much unknown. I know it really a shock for my Aunt since it was her cousin.”
Of course, it’s not possible to verify the exact relationship, but the description did match up with the facts of the missing person case.
