General Hospital spoilers and updates tease Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) will try to do damage control this week on the ABC soap. Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) will be accused of being behind the prison attack that injured Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) and Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner); can Ric make Sonny’s innocence believable?
It Doesn’t Look Good
It doesn’t look good-Sonny does still have connections inside Pentonville for the protection of some inmates who have families; that’s what he told Ric when he asked him.
The main problem is Sonny’s contact named Vito (uncredited)-he’s the same guy that told Curtis to stay out of his cell during lunch, and he was involved in the beating of Sidwell too.
It sounds like Vito isn’t as loyal to Sonny as he believed he was-but then, Sonny is out of the mob and Vito doesn’t make money.
Ric doesn’t have a lot to work with to defend Sonny-because of his ongoing connection to this Vito guy in Pentonville.
It’s not like a situation where Sonny could have an alibi-because it wasn’t Sonny himself who was involved in the attack!
All They Have Is Sonny’s Word, And He Hasn’t Been Out Of The Mob

Long Enough To Prove Himself
All they have is Sonny’s word, and he hasn’t been out of the mob long enough to prove himself-it’s like even if he’s left the mob, the mob hasn’t left him! Curtis is seriously injured-he’s in the intensive care unit at General Hospital.
Sidwell was badly beaten as well, Curtis tried to save him-it’s very similar to the beating that Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) got when he tried to save Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober).
Both of them were badly injured, and back then, there wasn’t protective custody-not to mention that warden was corrupt, and on the take. Some things have changed at Pentonville, but basically, it’s still a very dangerous place.
People Are Going To Believe What They’re Going To Believe
People are going to believe what they’re going to believe-and with Sonny’s mob past reaching back years and years, even decades, his innocence in this attack will be a hard pill to swallow.
How can Ric prove Sonny isn’t behind the prison attack; he really can’t, especially if Vito lies and says that he is; it may be a he said-he said.
Sonny meant it when he left the mob, and even dissolved contracts he had with Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) who also went straight.
Both of them are putting their focus on their families and Jason in particular, he’s all his son has left. Ric is going to have a very difficult task if this goes to court, proving Sonny’s innocence.
