Finn’s exit from the scene allowed Carter to pressure Steffy and manipulate his wife.
Daphne Walton (Murielle Hilaire) had no idea that her husband was using her as an emotional weapon to prey on Steffy’s psyche.
It worked. Steffy told Daphne that she completed the implantation procedure with her frozen egg and Carter’s donation.

Daphne isn’t a doctor. But she’s already questioning what Carter and Steffy have done.
Finn is a doctor. He’s also come under intense scrutiny from his wife because of the sympathy he has shown his birth mother on multiple occasions.

Steffy Forrester Finnegan Can Save Herself
There have been and will be many moments when Steffy can choose to come clean.
From today until the moment before this secret is revealed, Steffy will retain some control of the narrative.
But if she chooses to withhold the truth from Finn, then she will be participating in a direct form of lying.
There will be no logical explanation she can offer her husband if he learns the truth without her having told him herself.
In the meantime, the deep stress she’s feeling will be easily visible. That won’t match her supposedly selfless surrogacy effort.
Steffy should not have allowed Carter to pressure her into going along with his idea.
But she will always be equally responsible for violating her friendship with Daphne and breaking her wedding vows to Finn unless Steffy tells him that she’s naturally pregnant with Carter’s baby.
