The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that this is a very special week for Jason Thompson as it marks his 10-year anniversary of playing Billy Abbott.
The Canadian actor debuted on the number one rated daytime drama on January 14, 2016 and before this he portrayed Patrick Drake for a decade on ABC’s General Hospital.
In other words, Thompson has been entertaining loyal fans for 20 years now, and lucky for the audience, he shows no signs of stopping!

In a recent video Jason reflected on his ten year milestone: “I question where all the time went because it’s kind of mind blowing to me that it’s already been 10 years but what an amazing 10 years it’s been.”
The video is chock full of fun flashbacks over the last decade. There are tense scenes fighting with Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and fraught scenes with Jill Abbott (Jess Walton).
Through it all Thompson provides the laughs and sighs as he recalls various plots and storylines.
Jason Thompson Stars as Billy Abbott on Y&R
Thompson won a Daytime Emmy win in 2020 for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his portrayal of troubled and volatile Billy Abbott, the son of the show’s patriarch John Abbott.
Through the years Billy has romanced leading ladies like Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) and he’s currently involved with spicy Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope).
Billy has not always been a shining star, as his past addictions have too often gotten the best of him and endangered those he loves—like the time thugs kidnapped Victoria over Billy’s gambling debts.
What Happens Next on Y&R?
At the moment Billy is about to be tempted with another trip to the dark side via Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn). Billy and Cane have a complicated relationship. After getting the upper hand with NE, Cane feels sorry for Billy.
As such, Cane wants Billy to join him in ransacking Newman Enterprises, an option that has him drooling.
However, Sally is dead set against such corporate shenanigans. We predict that Billy will try to eat his cake and have it, too, with this latest front burner plot!
